My Picks For The Best Romantic Movies This Valentine

So, it’s that time of the year again when couples the world over seem like a heavy downpour of love just visited them. Though I am not really a big fan of this day, simply because Love is not a one day thing, I still like the idea behind it. After all, it’s celebrating Love.

Being a hardcore Romance addict, I have fed myself with heavy doses of romance in every form, but I feel Bollywood surpasses it all. There is nothing like a Bollywood romance and most of us will admit loving it some way or the other. However, I kind of feel offended that how when I visit my Facebook account, it is always the links to the best Hollywood romantic movies that they seem to share, as if Bollywood was any less in this department. So here are my picks from the movies I personally love and enjoy the most among the genre of Romance.

#1. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

Okay, so this has to top the list for me. And I think for many of you too. The movie beggars all description and remains an all time favorite.

#2. Jab We Met

How can we ever forget the garrulous Geet and the introvert Aditya (God, I love that name!). This was a great watch to hit the screens after a long time.

#3. Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein

It might be a little unexpected for some but I really like this one too, not to forget the lovely Dia Mirza who looks as beautiful and innocent as ever.

#4.Β Devdas

Though I HATE sad endings in love stories, this one I cannot seem to avoid. An adaptation of the classic Bengali novel of the same name, the movie by Bhansali was mesmerising and the acting by the leads truly grasping. The ending still wrings in my heart and makes me sad for hours after I have watched it.

I know there are so many more that the list seems to be endless. But these are just a few ofΒ myΒ favorites. A very Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

  4. I checked this list out hoping I’d find a movie that I’ve watched. I love Indian movies. They’re unadulterated. At least the ones I get to watch. πŸ™‚ I love them and that’s what I like to show my daughters. Funny and does not need to show hints of porn no matter how soft. I am so disappointed at how most of the movies shown now have to be so suggestive. I didn’t get cable until my girls we’re almost adults because I had to constantly guard their eyes and mind from these. I wanted to keep their thoughts pure for as long as I can but of course I can only do so much. WHo knows what they teach in American schools.

    Thanks for sharing.

Bollywood has always been romantic but it gets overshadowed by Hollywood, alas!
I am glad you like Bollywood movies, though I would have to admit that Bollywood is no longer ‘unadulterated’, just as the love nowadays is not. Changing times brings changes in the movies made. But yes, there is nothing like ‘desi’ romance.

Also, no matter how hard you try, kids can’t be protected for much longer. But as a parent, it is your duty to try and you are just doing your job by trying to shield them from such stuff. All th best to you with that. πŸ™‚
