Unconditional

They loved each other, to the core. The day she entered her life, everything changed. She did not even love her son the way she loved her. It was something special. Beyond words.

She entered her life crying. But that was the last day she allowed her to cry. Life never seemed so good. She could not imagine it without her, without her company, without her sound in her ears, without her touch, without her meaningless talks, without her care, without her being. Her son was a gift, but she was invaluable.

Every time anybody made a mistake, he was scolded, and not her. She always escaped with her innocent yet mischievous tact and would continue to tease him all day. She knew she would be defended, always. After all, she was the apple of the eyes of everyone. He would get jealous, obviously. He felt that he gets punished unnecessarily, even when he is not at fault. He would not even understand that how can her own mother be so biased towards his own son. That wasn’t fair, he would often complain.

But she would have none of it. It was her duty to love and protect her, shield her from anything that might even try to harm her. Before her, she was happy, but now, she felt complete. At least somebody was there to side with her during those friendly banters when the father-son duo would unite and she would be left to fend for her self. But now she had a partner in crime. Nothing could come between them, nothing could get past them, nobody could win if these two were together.

She supported her in her every decision, even when others opposed her. She took care of her even during the slightest of her illness. They would fight and fend for each others’ rights and happiness. They loved each other to the core. People would be envious of their relationship, for such love was unheard of, especially between a daughter and her mother-in-law.
