“Sshh.. Now it’s my turn. First things first because I think it is very important, I am NOT married. That was just a stupid prank that Sameer played and I had that caption deleted for I knew it would lead to all sorts of confusion and misunderstanding.” She stared at him in disbelief as if she wanted to say something but she was denied this privilege by him.

“Second, I never thought that a strong minded girl like you can think things like this, that you are not beautiful. Has nobody ever told you how entrancing those eyes are? If no, then let me have this honor now. Akira, you are so beautiful that I cannot get my eyes off you. I have to try like really really hard to not look in to those eyes of yours. I have never seen a girl with a purer heart than you. You do not belong to this era when it comes to matters of heart. You are so gentle even towards the unknown, and so strong that you don’t give a care to the world. I have always admired and liked you for what you are. Your inner beauty shines on your face and that makes it hard to avert my eyes off from your face that is always radiating that inner beauty.”

“But..”

“Sshh. I said be quiet. Let me finish. I was so worried that why are you not talking to me. I should have guessed. I am such an idiot. I missed your pretexts of taking a lift..” and as he said this, she was dumbstruck, but more than that, she was embarrassed.

“You knew?” she asked.

“Of course I knew. And I loved it. Your eyes seemed to sparkle each time I saw you waiting for a lift. So do not be embarrassed about it. You’ve always been the bolder one Akira but..” and before he could go any further, she did the most unexpected thing, something that even she could not have imagined. She held his face in her hands and kissed him, kissed him like she wanted to vent her suppressed anger, her tears, her wait and her longing in this one single kiss.

After it was over, she said, once again, “I love you.”

“Akira, listen. Do not hate me please but try to understand this. No matter how much I like you, we cannot be together..”

God, that was something! She was aghast, trying to take in what he said, and not comprehending at all why he said that. What was all of it then that had just transpired between them?

“See. You were my student once and everybody in our circles knows that. Just think what would everybody say when they know about us. So it is better..”

“I never knew you were such a coward. How could I have ever loved a person like you Sir. You say you like me, yet do not have the guts to bring that out to the world, no matter how much it pains you or me! You know what, thank you. And.. anyways.. Bye..” and with that she stormed out of the classroom, not caring that he kept calling her from behind.
